The provocative imagery chosen for the poster advertising her first landmark retrospective held at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art from 2 nd August to 9 th November 2008 not only reflects the defiance behind the often-sexually provocative attitudes depicted in her work but also resonates with the feminist tenets she has advanced throughout her career with her wide-ranging creations.

The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, erring on the side of caution, only printed 500 imprints of this poster, which were all sold out in a matter of days.
Tracey Emin was born in 1963 to Turkish Cypriot parents to Margate in Kent. Her young life was a mixture of promiscuous sex and self-destructive activities as she moved between different men and art schools. Rape, abortion, family tragedy and a host of unpleasant diseases figure in her early life and most of these tragic events were well-documented in the ‘20 Years’ Retrospective held at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
She was the ‘enfant terrible’ of the group that came to be known as the YBAs in the 1980s (Young British Artists) which included such artists as Sarah Lucas, Damien Hirst, Gary Hume and Sam Taylor-Wood, among others, who were thrusting onto the international art scene shocking images and sex-centred artistic creations and highly conceptual art.
Emin herself burst onto the world art scene in 1997, when her work ‘Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963-1995’, a tent appliqued with the names of everyone the artist had ever shared a bed with was shown at Charles Saatchi’s ‘Sensation’ exhibition held at the Royal Academy in London.
Her art is one of disclosure, using her life-events as inspiration for works ranging from painting, drawing, video and installation, to photography, needlework and sculpture.
Emin’s work has an urgency, a here-and-now quality, often with in-your-face sexual imagery with which she attempts to position her oeuvre within the tradition of feminist discourse.
The hopes and frustrations, failures and successes expressed in her work are candid and, at times, both tragic and humorous.
Emin’s transition from a messed-up, angry, rebellious working-class teenager in the 1970s in Margate on a path signposted in the direction of self-destruction, with an interlude in the 1980s as a prominent figure of the YBAs. vilified and feted but central to the media’s love/hate relationship with culture to her emergence in 2007 as a Royal Academician of the Royal Academy of Arts is a truly remarkable story in itself.
She comes across as a great British character and a visual storyteller of complex issues of her times, focusing on events and experiences of her own unusual life.
Emin is now very much a grande dame of the British Art establishment. In 2008 she was UK’s representative at the Venice Biennale.
In December 2011, Emin was appointed Professor of Drawing at the Royal Academy.
Leaving aside the question whether she is a great artist or her creations are simply self-indulgent confessions, her work makes her stand out as the leading artistic standard-bearer for the feminist discourse in the early decades of the 21 st century.
Emin is a consummate publicist and outspoken in her views, especially in the furtherance of feminist causes.
Our Comment
It is reported that demand for the poster was such that the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art could have sold another 1000 in addition to the 500 they published. The fortunate buyers will most likely hold this iconic poster as a treasured possession. Our research shows that hardly any imprints have appeared on the secondary market since 2008. This striking creation now ranks as an extremely rare poster
and should be of especial interest to the emerging class of female art collectors.
In this context it is worth noting that Emin is a highly competent self publicist and always forthright in the articulation of her views, especially in espousing feminist issues dear to her heart.
We confidently predict that Emin’s works will retain their present appeal for decades to come and this landmark poster will emerge as a collector’s item steadily increasing in value.

If the Customer is unsure about an item's condition, dimensions, quantity, or description, they can send their questions to the item's Vendor by clicking on Ask the seller on the listing page of the Site.
Customers shall receive the same level of consumer protection on purchases irrespective of whether they are buying from a Professional Vendor or Non-Professional Vendor.

Can I cancel an order?
If a Customer changes their mind or decides for any other reason not to purchase the Goods before they have been dispatched, they can cancel the order on the Site and receive a refund.
The right to cancel does not apply to the following types of goods, which are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke, or made-to-order according to the customer's specific requirements. If in doubt, the Customer can contact the Vendor via the Site.
If the Customer cancels an order after an item has already been marked as dispatched for delivery, the delivery costs are non-refundable.
To cancel the order, the Customer must follow the cancellation procedure on the Site by clicking on Create Cancellation on the order page.
Can I return an item?
All items at Vinterior are special and unique, and we understand that once they are at the Customer's place, they might not fit the space or just don’t feel right. This is why we offer a market-leading 100-day returns policy for purchases from Professional sellers after goods have been received by customers based in the UK and European Union. This means Vinterior customers can return their items for any reason up to 100 days from the day they were received.
If purchased from an Individual seller, a 14-day return policy applies from the day it was received.
Types of returns and responsibilities
Change of mind return
Consumers can return the goods due to a change of mind. Once a return is requested, the buyer is in charge of shipping the goods back to the seller and should organise it as soon as possible. Shipment costs to and from buyers are non-refundable.
Item not fit for purpose
Acting under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, customers may return faulty Goods that are damaged or the listing on the Site is materially inaccurate, misleading, or misrepresents the Goods. In these cases, the Customer must provide photographic evidence to Vinterior and the Vendor or reject the delivery on arrival.
Damage in transit
Vinterior must be informed of any damage in transit. If Proovia delivered the items, Vinterior will then raise an insurance claim on behalf of the Vendor with the delivery company. If the seller organised a delivery, they would be asked to raise a claim with their courier. Once the claim is resolved and any relevant decision regarding the insurance has been made, any applicable refunds will be processed.
How to request a return
To initiate a return the customer needs to log in to their Vinterior account and click Create a return on the order page. In the return request, the reason for the return must be included along with photos of any damage of the Goods, if faulty.
How you will be refunded?
Once the item is returned to the Vendor in the same condition, the Vendor will confirm receipt of the item, and Vinterior will refund the original payment method.
If an item is returned to the seller damaged or in an unsuitable condition, Vinterior will not be able to process the refund, and the seller may have to send it back (and ask you to cover the delivery costs). All items are inspected on return.
What can't be returned?
As with cancellations, the right to return an item does not apply to the following types of Goods, which are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to the Customer's specific requirements.
Please note that vintage items are not sold as new and are likely to show signs of wear and tear. This is not sufficient grounds for a refund.
Vendors may refuse a return of an item if the Customer has altered it in any way.
Neither Vinterior nor the Vendors are liable for any damages or loss sustained in transit via third parties.
