Description
This antique and rare porcelain duet tea set by Minton’s includes a pair of cups with saucers, a teapot, a sugar bowl, and a milk jug, created in the late 19th century. The pieces are made of bone china, enameled, and gilded. The beautiful "Seaweed" red pattern was introduced into Minton's design range in the 1880s and was available in red, green, and blue until the early 1900s when the range was discontinued.
Cups, saucers, and other set pieces are decorated with a seaweed design, transfer printed in rust red, with gilt rims. The cups have a bucket shape with gilding on the foot ring and squared handle. All pieces bear the company mark on the bottom, and the cups and saucers additionally have the pattern number G3160 written in red ink. Minton products are always highly desirable, either as individual pieces or as part of a set. Many museums around the world display this Minton design as representative of English porcelain.
An interesting fact: Leland Stanford (1824-1893), American politician, 8th Governor of California, industrialist, entrepreneur, and founder of Stanford University, enjoyed drinking tea from this particular Minton set.
The Minton Porcelain Company was one of the pioneers of English porcelain production. The Minton factory was founded in 1793 in Stoke-on-Trent by Thomas Minton. After his death in 1836, the company passed to his son, under whom it became one of the leading centers of high-quality ceramics, porcelain, and tiles in Victorian England.
Thomas Minton made Minton ware famous for its cream-colored and blue-printed earthenware, majolica, bone china, and Parian porcelain. The factory stood out in the Victorian period for its "art" porcelains and was known for its wonderfully fine white bone china and bright colors. Minton supplied vast quantities of tableware, tiles, and other items to the USA in the 19th century; the White House was traditionally supplied with Minton crockery, and many grand buildings of this era were tiled with Minton tiles, including the House of Parliament. The dining room of the English royal family on the family yacht "Britannia," where heads of state and distinguished guests are honored, is served with Minton tableware.
The factory was also a popular supplier of custom dinnerware for embassies and heads of state, and the name continues to thrive today as part of the Waterford, Wedgwood, and Royal Doulton Group. The Minton trademark is one of the most famous porcelains of the 19th century and remains one of the most expensive in the world. It is a magnificent, exquisite gift and a true treasure for serious collectors.

Condition report:
Teapot - actively used, with cracked enamel showing traces of tea. There are enamel cracks in the upper part of the teapot, where the wide rim meets the body, as well as at the base of the handle. However, there are no cracks in the body of the kettle or signs of restoration; the checkup was conducted using an ultraviolet light source. The body of the teapot is yellowish, but surprisingly, the gilding and paint are in brand new condition, as if painted yesterday. The lid is a different color - completely light. All other items are in such condition that they appear to have been made last month, all in superb quality.

However, sometimes things don’t go exactly to plan, and you may need to cancel or return an order.
To prevent this, we encourage you to check listings, photos and descriptions carefully before you buy. Always contact your seller first if you have any queries, at any point in your purchase.
Our buyers receive the same protection when buying from all our sellers, both professional and verified.
Can I cancel an order?
There are many reasons why you might need to cancel an order, and you'll often be entitled to a refund. To cancel an order, click Create cancellation on the order page.
If you cancel your order before it has been dispatched, you will receive a full refund - including delivery costs. However, if your item has been shipped, delivery costs will not be included in your refund.
Please note: orders of bespoke, personalised or made-to-order pieces cannot be cancelled.
Can I return an order?
We understand that sometimes a piece isn’t the perfect fit. So if you no longer want your order, our returns process will ensure it finds a new home fast.
The Vinterior Guarantee included with your purchase entitles you to 14-day returns - allowing you to return any item within 14 days of the delivery date (except in specific circumstances, detailed below).
You can return your order if...
It isn't what you expected
If what arrives isn’t what you ordered, you can open a return. Just send us some photo evidence that the listing was inaccurate, misleading or misrepresented your purchased piece, and you’ll receive a refund.
You change your mind
If you don’t feel a piece is right for your space, you can return it. Once you request a change of mind return, you’ll be responsible for shipping the piece back to your seller as soon as possible. Delivery costs are non-refundable.
It's damaged in transit
In the rare event that an item arrives damaged or defective, you have a full 30 days from the date of delivery to return it for a full refund.
If your purchase arrives broken, always let us know. If Proovia delivered the piece, we can raise an insurance claim on the seller’s behalf. Or, the seller can raise a claim with their chosen courier.
What can't I return?
Just as there are some orders you can’t cancel, there are some you cant return, too. Personalised, bespoke or made-to-order pieces are non-returnable, and non-refundable. Sellers may also reject your return if the item has been altered in any way.
Please note: pieces on our site are pre-loved, not new. They may show some wear and tear; this is not sufficient grounds for a refund, unless the seller has misrepresented the item’s condition.
Lastly, neither Vinterior nor our sellers are liable for any damages or loss sustained in transit via third parties.

To initiate a return, log into your Vinterior account, then go to the relevant order page and click Create a return. In the return request, be sure to include all the details: the reason for your return, an in-depth description, and photos of any issues or damage.
How will I receive my refund?
Once the seller confirms they’ve received the item (in the same condition it was sent), we will send your refund to your original payment method.
All items are inspected on return. If the seller receives the return with damage they don’t recognise, we will not be able to process your refund and the seller may need to send the piece back to you. You will be required to cover these delivery costs.
